Letter from the guidance Counselor:

What is a Guidance Counselor?

Someone you can talk to when you feel confused.

Someone you can talk to when you feel angry.

Someone you can talk to when you feel worried.

Someone you can talk to when you feel proud.

Someone you can talk to when you feel scared.

Someone you can talk to when you feel sad.

Someone you can talk to when you feel lonely.

Someone you can count on no matter what!

Parent(s)/Guardians(s):

I would like to take this time to introduce myself to each of you.  My name is Jamie Miller and I am the new Guidance Counselor at Benjamin Franklin School.  I am now entering my 22nd year with the Uniontown Area School District.  The last 10 years I was assigned here at Benjamin franklin to grade 4.  This is my 5th year in the Guidance Department and I am looking forward to working with, helping, and guiding your child through a successful and enjoyable year!  If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.

Respectfully,

     Jamie Miller-D’Andrea

     A Title I Guidance Counselor is available to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity obtain an education of the highest quality and reach at a minimum proficiency on the state achievement standards and state assessments (PSSA Tests). This school-wide program is designed with the knowledge there is a strong link between student’s home and student’s school. The guidance counselor will strive to engage in regular on-going communication with student’s parents and to encourage the participation of parents in the educational life of their child and their child’s school. They will work collaboratively with the Parent Advisory Council (PAC) to create a positive bond that will strengthen the level of performance and achievement for which all students should strive.
